ARTIST STATEMENT

The Garden of Even is a level of consciousness; a choice of loving perception, where we are one with nature and all of creation.
The flower is a metaphor for humanity vulnerably opening through loving connection. Love is emotionally and powerfully felt within nature.
Within the flower, masculine and feminine form a collaborative symmetrical union. This combination is collectively powerful producing limitless creative possibilities of new life.

“The Garden of Even” is based on the equal importance of both feminine and masculine as seen in creation. This balance is paramount on an individual level as well as to collective society. The power of the aggressive, willful masculine in sync with the intuitive, connecting, creative feminine can produce balanced, positive solutions for societal issues today and into the future. The mirrored image expresses this balanced view of oneself in loving connection.

The flower was chosen because both male and female reside within and it is genetically programmed to connect and produce new life. Brilliantly the flower attracts attention through its color, pattern, fragrance and nectar thereby insuring its ability to reproduce and live on. Our senses powerfully describe the world we see.

The manipulated flower is suggestive of exquisite, vulnerable, opening and entering into a world of mystery and intrigue. The symbolic sexual nature of the forms sensually stimulates mental, spiritual and physical connections within the context of nature’s balanced symmetry. There is a universal subliminal recognition of new life arriving through the powerful feminine form. Nature provides the example of entering into the power of joy, peace and bliss through loving respectful union.

I have a humanitarian vision of making a positive difference in the world through love. I believe the essence of life is Love, which is unlimited creativity. As an artist, I let love fuel my creativity.

Loving connection is a deeply engrained personal and collective primitive cultural value. This series of art engaged my conscious and subconscious mind to reveal what real loving connection looks and feels like and where I have blocks to it. This understanding enhances my interactions on a daily basis within and with others. the objective of sharing my journey is to let others experience the emotional joy of sensual loving connection.
Loving connection starts within and radiates outward to a mate, family, friends, community and global society.

My iPhone camera is the daily appendage that captures my immediate view of life. The technology of photographic manipulation exudes a futuristic quality balanced by evocative human forms within the flower. The photo is stretched, cropped, repeated, and mirrored. Spatially, I compose through color, form, and texture. The complex center of the flower works well to manipulate into the expression of male or female form. The emotion of the piece is the overriding determinant of the composition.
